Well-established Faculty…
OMU Faculty of Theology was established in 1976 as the Higher Islamic Institute affiliated with the Ministry of National Education and was incorporated into OMU in 1982 under the name of the Faculty of Theology. In the first stage, it was transferred to the Faculty of Education buildings in Atakum Campus in 1983 and served there for 6 years. In 1989, he continued his education temporarily in the building belonging to the Faculty of Medicine within the Kurupelit Campus. The current faculty building has been operating since the 1996-1997 academic year. OMU Faculty of Theology, which has been in service for nearly half a century, is one of the most established institutions of higher religious education.

Rich Academic Staff…
Our faculty academically consists of three departments: Basic Islamic Sciences, Philosophy and Religious Sciences, Islamic History and Arts, and actively provides formal education I. and II. It has a Bachelor of Theology program and a Distance Education Bachelor of Theology Completion (ILITAM) program. In addition, postgraduate programs provide education at non-thesis master's, thesis master's and doctoral levels.
A total of 87 academic staff, including 30 Professors, 13 Associate Professors, 14 Doctoral Lecturers, 7 Lecturers, and 23 Research Assistants, continue their education and training activities in our faculty.

Quality Education…
The duration of education at the faculty is 5 years with the Compulsory Arabic Preparatory Class. In the preparatory class, intensive Arabic language education is given at the Arabic Language Center (ADİM) under the supervision of Turkish and Arab teachers to develop speaking, writing, listening and reading skills. Students who are successful in the exemption exam held at the beginning of each fall semester can start their education directly from the first grade without attending the preparatory class. Students who are successful in the preparation process go through a 4-year education process, which includes compulsory courses, social elective courses and pedagogical formation courses as electives. During the undergraduate education, students are provided with application courses that prepare them for the profession, project assignments that support their academic development, and social elective courses that they can take from other faculties within the university in different fields and according to their interests, contributing to their development and providing education with a student-centered approach. Additionally, our faculty has student exchange agreements within the framework of Erasmus, Mevlana and Farabi Programs. Our students actively benefit from these exchange programs and contribute to the expansion of their perspectives on their fields of expertise with the experiences they gain.
Large and Spacious Spaces…
Our faculty provides services with a conference hall for 370 people, 2 lecture halls, 15 classrooms, student canteen, music room, art workshop, library, reading room, faculty rooms, presentation classes, cafeteria and large recreation areas. There are projection facilities in all our classrooms and smart board facilities in some of our classrooms. Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Theology Library has comfortable study areas and a rich content including 34 thousand 186 books and 4 thousand 877 periodicals.
Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Theology Mosque has a social complex-style structure with its comfortable and spacious interior, large courtyard, cafeteria, and various social and sports areas.
In the Center of Campus…
Located in the Kurupelit campus of our university, there are trams, municipal buses and minibus lines in front of our faculty, which can reach everywhere. Our faculty is in a central location, close to the KYK dormitories on campus and the social areas of the university.
In What Ways Do We Support the Professional, Cultural and Social Atmosphere?
Artistic, Cultural and Social Events…
During their undergraduate education, our students can participate in workshops in the fields they are interested in, as well as conferences, seminars and workshops held at the faculty. Various social, cultural and academic activities are held through student communities. Calligraphy, marbling, illumination and music courses are organized to improve the artistic skills of students. In addition, various courses such as development and education of 4-6 year old pre-school children, gassal, diction and beautiful call to prayer are given in cooperation with the Public Education Center to support their professional development after graduation.

Thanks to the achievements gained by our students in our Faculty, they became Religious Culture and Ethics Teachers and Vocational Courses Teachers at Imam Hatip High School at the Ministry of National Education; Mufti, Preacher, Expert, Quran Course Instructor, Imam-Hatip, Muezzin-Qayyim at the Presidency of Religious Affairs; They can work as academic staff at universities. In addition, various trainings are organized for our graduates within the framework of lifelong education, and continuous communication is provided through alumni meetings and social media accounts specific to graduates.
